Customers can get one free optional service like a safe deposit box or overdraft protection, and the $5 monthly fee is waived with direct deposit or a $500 average daily balance.

This isn't much different than most of the checking accounts. Typically they just differ on the kinds of interest you can receive and how much you have to keep to avoid service fees, etc. You've got to be 50 or older to qualify for this one, though. You can earn interest with lower balance requirements and fees with this account, and they offer the option of safety deposit box if you'd like, as… well.
