Indymac Bank offers three types of checking accounts: Premium Checking, Value Checking and Ultimate Checking. Premium pays interest on your balance over $1,000 and includes unlimited check writing. Value has no monthly fee, offers unlimited check writing and requires a minimum balance of $100 to open. Ultimate is a high-yield account that requires a minimum of $25,000 to open.

Unless you plan on never getting your money back, don't put anything into this checking account. It's always amazing to me that with such heavy regulation by the federal government, banks still manage to find a way to fail.
