Renters Insurance
from MetLife
MetLife Renters Insurance protects the items in your apartment and provides personal liability coverage in case someone is injured on your rented property. Coverage can be purchased on an actual cash value or replacement cost basis. The actual cash value option is less expensive but deducts deprecation when you get money for damages while the replacement cost option does not deduct deprecation.

Renters Insurance is important because you are typically not covered for your own personal property under your landlord's own policy. The replacement cost basis plan is more expensive, but it offers more and better coverage. With the cash value policy, everything deteriorates in value in the insurance companies eyes, so you don't get as much back in case of the unfortunate happening.
