Disability Insurance
from Mutual of Omaha
Disability Insurance Reviews
I paid for their ST disabilty for 3 years. Then in March 2008 I injured my sciatic nerve and my doctor ordered me to immediate bed rest and I went on FMLA for three months. Upon returning to work 12 weeks later I submitted my claim. They denied it. I appealed and today recieved my second denial and they consider this case closed despite my medical documentation that I could not stand, sit or wa…lk. How much more disabled can you get? I have already hired an attorney. This insurance was a waste of money.

Mutual of Omaha has reasonable prices on their disabiltiy insurance, because when you file a claim, it will be denied. My wife has worked for thirty years and at the same time has raised three children, all whom are productive members of society. She has had the coverage through her employer. A little over a year ago she was diagnosed with MS. She can no longer work due to the her condition an…d because of the medication she is taking. Both of her doctors, one who is a specialist with MS and one of the Directors for the MS Society, have supported and have recommended that she not work, and enchouraged her to file for LT disability. Initially she filed for short term, which Mutual of Omaha, not with ease, approved. (She didn't recieve payment until her short term period was over) Now that she filed for long term, it was denied despite the support of her doctors. After researcing, it is not uncommon for insurance companies to deny claims. It is mentioned that initially a claim will be denied hoping that you will not pursue or file an appeal. After all, it is about their profit margin at the end of the year. Just keep in mind, that the insurance you are paying for, may never be there you you really need it.
