I have used PayPal for about a year now and it has been nothing but great for me. I use it mostly for purchases on Ebay. I really like that it stops me from having to give the seller my credit card number, and can just transfer the cash from my bank account to the seller. It is also great for sending money between friends that no longer live in the same state. I have had no problems with it and really like using it for all of my online purchases.
I've been using PayPal for a few months now to receive small payments. I have not had any problems receiving funds from companies or transferring these funds to my checking account. All in all, I think PayPal is great--it's convenient and appears to be a safe method of payment. I would recommend it to others.
I have used paypal for many different purchases via internet. Ebay of course, is what I use the most and need paypal for. I like how easy it is to use and how it takes little time to make a payment. It seems more online stores are using paypal so this makes things much more simple, as I dont need to type in a credit card number each time I buy something. Paypal also will resolve issues fast, I have spent some time talking with paypal for what I thought was a bad payment made by myself; I found them to be helpful and fast.
I've used Paypal for a few years now. I use it mainly for making payments from purchases made on Ebay, but have also used it for other online transactions, including donations. I've never had problems with using it and have found it very useful compared to alternative options, such as paying by check.
I've been using PayPal both to pay and get paid for 2 1/2 years now. I've never had a single problem, although I only get paid small amounts for photos that I sell online. I do a lot of shopping on Ebay and I find it really convenient to be able to use PayPal instead of having to use my debit card.
The best thing about PayPal is that I can accept credit cards without having to beg my bank to let me be a "merchant". PayPal makes it very easy to accept money from everyone - which is how it should be.
Luckily, I've never had to deal with their customer service - I have heard some horror stories about that. But even if that ever turns out to be a problem, PayPal makes online buying and selling so convenient that I'd use them anyway.
Francisco makes some sound points about paypal.
Since ebay now owns paypal, ebay pushes this payment method hard on their site, and its all but impossible to sucessfully ebay without accepting and using paypal.
On the question of competition, I'd encourage readers to explore google checkout. Currently, their seller's fees for payments made by a credit card (2% plust 20 cents per transaction) are much lower than paypal's, and I have found google's customer service to be somewhat more responsive.
I have been using the online payment from PayPal for many years. I find it to be very convenient, but really wish they had more competition so I have something else to choose from. If you use PayPal to receive money, be cautious about chargebacks from the buyer. Deposit the guarantees PayPal has, you can still get burned once in a while with chargebacks.
On the up side, the ability for an individual to be able to receive credit card payment is just plain convenient.
PayPal is a must if you like to buy or sell stuff online (and who doesn't?), especially on eBay.
Just remember to avoid accepting payment in a foreign currency, because their exchange rate absolutely sucks.
