Mutual Funds from Putnam Investments

Putnam's family funds offer asset allocation funds. The Growth Fund is designed to give investors the opportunity to build wealth over time by investing in companies with above-average earnings and growth rates. The Blend Fund is designed to have the flexibility to invest in both growth stocks and value stocks, targeting companies believed to be worth more than their current stock prices indicate. The Value Fund is designed to invest in stocks whose prices are low relative to the company's earnings, dividends, and growth potential. The Income Fund is designed to invest in interest-paying bonds and, to a limited extent, dividend-paying stocks and the Asset Allocation Fund is designed to provide one-step global diversification - these funds invest in a mix of asset and investment styles.

My Mother in law invested $500 in Putman New Opportunities on 5/13/96. On 9/30/08 before the crash of '08 it was worth $563.46. Never withdrew even $.01 from this fund. Someone made $$ on this, but not the investor.
