I have tried many student checking accounts with many different banks. This one has proved to be the only totally free checking account zero fees. They even forgave me three times when my account was unwittingly overdrawn. There's also soveriegn ATM's like everywhere and they don't charge you for using your debit card.

Overall, the Free Student Checking account at Sovereign Bank has been an excellent checking account for me. I did run into many many issues when it came to the online banking portion. It turned out that this was because the man who created my account for me entered the wrong social security number. If you sign up for an account, make sure they're entering the right numbers!
