The Coverdell Education Savings Account allows you to save up to $2,000 a year for a child's educational expenses, from elementary school through higher education, provided you meet income requirements. The funds can be transferred to another family member if the beneficiary does not use all the funds, and contributions for the prior tax year can be made as late as April 15 of the current year.
