I was very unsatisfied with my account at US Bank. Upon opening the account I was given a "Cash Back" check card. I was told that EVERY time that I used the card as credit I would receive a small percentage back to me. To my dismay, I never received any rewards regardless of how much I used my card. I finally called their customer service line only to find that the rewards were only on qualifying purchases which were very uncommon to me. I didnt appreciate this deceit being that the cash back program was one of the main reasons I had switched to their bank.

Also I was very unsatisfied with their overdraft policy. I made a seven dollar purchase that put my account $1 negative. I then received a $30 fee. This was understandable to me as that is the policy at most banks. What I did not like is the $7.50 they continued to charge me daily. Within one week my account went from -$1.00 to -$83.50 and I was still days away from my payday. With their overdraft policy it is very hard to pay off your fees unless you are receiving weekly paychecks.

I have been a customer at US Bank for 10 years. I went through a really nasty divorce, that required some extensive accounting. US Bank rep's were able to dig really deep and track a lot of cash. That service alone saved me $30,000. I'm a HUGE US Bank fan, they go the extra mile.

In terms of interest, any bank you go, free checking will not get you much interest. However, I have been a loyal US Bank customer for six years and they have a great customer service. I like their website, online banking, and how they don't harrass and call you all the time. Also, they have international employees who speak different languages, so my mom was able to open her account here too. All in all, I've had a good experience having this checking account at US Bank.
