My husband and I received a $100 gift card for Christmas. We've had a tough year financially and haven't been eating out as much as we used to, so we decided to spend our $100 on a nice dinner. When it came time to pay, the card would not go through. When we called to find out why, they said that the card would only initially cover $83.33 and the rest of the $100 would be avialable in a week. They ran the card for $83.33 and it still wouldn't work. I ended up paying for our meal with cash and being stuck with the stupid card. When I called this morning to ask for a check instead of a gift card, they said that there would be a $15 fee to close the account...meaning I'd only get $75 back. They informed me that it would be in my best interest to just keep the card, but warned me that I would encounter problems using it at restaurants, gas stations, and salons. Thanks visa. Horrible gift.
