I have been a USAA member using their financial products for 30 years. They are hard to beat on just about anything. That said, there are 2 very significant drawback with USAA checking. First, they don't have local branches. While that is somewhat offset by their ability to make deposits with scans of checks, they can't provide a signature guarantee unless you show up at one of their very few offices. Everyone will need a signature guarantee at some point and only a bank can give it, therefore, everyone will need a local account. The second drawback is their very non-competitive funds availability policy. Many local banks will give 100% next day or even same day availability on deposits. USAA will only give $5K availability next day for established customers. This is a problem if you write large checks and cover them with an ACH transfer or scanned check deposit from somewhere else, or if you want to sweep a large deposit to a higher yielding non-USAA account. I do all of that on a regular basis.

I would echo all the other positive feedback. USAA offers amazing value and customer service.

Customers should also know that their annuity, life insurance, and brokerage products are now open to everyone, whether or not they are "P&C elligible"! Like their banking products, these are well worth looking into.

I have had a USAA checking account for over 10 years and have been very satisfied the whole time. I have never paid any extra fees like for account maintenance or low balance. The one time I had an account error, USAA corrected the error immediately. One down side is that there are very few branch locations so I have never been able to sit down with an actual person. All of my bank transactions have been over the telephone, Internet, or through the mail.

This is a very reliable cheching account. If you ever have any questions there costomer service is amazing. The only problem is the location. With all the stuff that they let you do online you dont have to be in an actual bank.

I LOVE it! If you take out money at ATM's, not only do they not charge you a fee, but they actually reimburse the fees that the ATM's bank charged. It is put directly back into your account once a month. There is a limit, it's like up to 10 times and up to $15 or something like that but seriously that's a lot of times per month to be going to the ATM. You also earn interest on the money in your checking this is great! Its obviously not as much as a savings account (for that I do ING) but I always like to have a certain amount in checking for emergencies so if I am making interest on it, that can't be beat.

USAA is a phenomenal company that caters to the armed services and their families. They offer great rates on many things, and so far they have always had the absolute best customer service that no one can match. I've been with them for many, many years, and I will continue to sing their praises as they continue to treat me like one of their best costumers (even though I'm pretty much a nobody!).

I am a USAA member and I use their financial services whenever possible. The customer service at USAA is impeccable and this company truly has it's member's best interests in mind.

The thing that really appeals to me about USAA checking is the Deposit@home program. They allow you to deposit checks from your home computer using a scanner. Even though I currently live in the same city as the one brick-and-mortar USAA location, I still find this very convenient. When our next PCS takes us to another part of the country, I know I will continue to receive the level of convenience and service that I now experience.

I've always heard wonderful things about USAA. We finally decided to join and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Customer service is outstanding. The online banking is so simple and easy to keep up with. ATM fees are paid back to you. You can get cash rewards for using your debit card. They offer so much more than just bank accounts, loans, and such. They offer financial advice, credit check monitoring, discounts, etc. I feel sorry for those who aren't eligible to bank with USAA!

I've previously been a member of USAA. Their service not only in banking but in insurance has been top of the line. This company does allow a little more liberties than most banks. And again, their customer service is worth having to become a member before reaping of the benefits.

I've been banking with USAA for about a year now and have been very pleased. I am able to traqnsfer funds between my USAA accounts and my Bank of America acount with ease. They also allow me to request a cash advance from a credit or debit card and have the money immediatly credited to my account. I also use their bill pay feature which allows me to pay my bills automatically by check without ever having to write a check. They do all the work for me. They provide all the conveniences a military family needs and the customer service is great.
