Vanguard brokerage accounts let you build a portfolio in a single account. It provides access to a wide range of stocks, bonds, options, CDs, exchange-traded funds and mutual funds from other fund companies. They offer competitive fees and commissions and provide unbiased research.
Vanguard is great at managing mutual funds, but its brokerage option is somewhere between discount and full service. Options and margin are not automatically included in your account.
Online equtiy trades are not competitively priced either. I do, however, like the recently added user-friendly cost basis accounting tool.
I have a few stocks through Vanguard, but don't do a lot of stock investing.
The account is serviceable, but not fantastic.
