I rolled over an old 401k (managed by Vanguard) to an IRA there. Vanguard made the process incredibly easy, allowed me to stay in a few closed funds and also waived a fund minimum for me.

The website is easy to use and customer service is strong. In terms of investment choice: Vanguard offers a variety of funds, with strong track records and reasonable fees. Need I say more?

I considered several IRA options before chosing Vanguard. Here you can get in to all of the open Vanguard funds with very few expenses.

I considered a Vanguard IRA brokerage account to buy Vanguard ETF's (which I may still do) but I'm not yet sure how frequently I will be buying.

There are no fees associated with this IRA - outside of the expense ratios of the funds themselves.

The user interface for all Vanguard products is very intuitive and easy to trace transactions and annual contribution limites.
