Platinum Checking Account Reviews

Wamu is a great bank for no monthly service fees and free checks. This account even pays you interest on your money but that doesn't add up to much no matter how much you have in your account. After hours when the bank is closed you have to swipe your debit card to get in the bank door to access the atm machine which is different. Overall i like the different perks they have.
there are a lot of free services with this account. There are a lot of wamu atms so im always able to get cash out. The customer service isnt the greatest and ive started to worry about the state of WaMu in general. I may begin shopping for a new checkings acoutn

This has to be the worst bank EVER! Yes, they pay the best rates; however, their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. If you are a high net worth individual DO NOT EVER entertain utilizing this bank. I had them initiate a transfer from my "old" bank to my new account and they put a 5 day hold on the cash they received because (to quote their customer service) "They don't know if the money they transferred is mine. Well, here's an idea, why not confirm my identity first? If you make the mistake I did and sign up on-line, the PIN's you request for your ATM card will NOT be the ones assigned. The branch does not know how to change your PIN, but the 800# customer service tells you to go to the nearest branch and your PIN can be changed in less than 5 minutes. Really? I wasted over 30 minutes at the branch and they could not figure out how to do it. BTW, you cannot get your PIN changed w/o the PIN # letter, which they send 2 WEEKS after you get your ATM cards. Obviously, you think your PIN is the one you requested. WRONG. And why didn't I get the PIN I requested? They have no idea. Well, that is comforting, isn't it. The best part is, after wiring a substantial amount of money into my "new" account, I deposited 2 fairly small checks and was informed those monies would be held for up to 30 days. Why, I asked, when a local check clears within 24 hours? Because that is WAMU's policy, was the response. Absolutely ridiculous. Needless to say I will move my money out of their bank as fast as I can.
