the "overdraft protecton" changed me $10 when they needed to move it from my savings to checking and then credit card also charged you a percentage. it was not free.

I've had Wells Fargo as my primary account for years. I signed up in college, and I'm too complacent to change banks. However, they have some seriously dodgy practices! My deposits always seem to clear a few days after I make them, but my withdrawls are immediate. Also, if you deposit $100 check into the ATM on Monday morning, then take out $20 cash the next evening, you'll overdraft even though the check is pending. Then, they'll charge you $35 for EACH transaction that comes through, eating up your whole check. Then they charge you an additional overdraft on the overdraft, and you're stuck in a cycle that keeps snowballing. Their mobile banking doesn't work on my blackberry either.
The only reason they get 3 stars is because I've never had to wait more than 3 minutes for customer service, and it's not outsourced.
Overall, I say go somewhere else.

I have been using Wells Fargo's College Checking for about a year and while they have several good points like their website usability and local branch locations, their overdraft fees are the highest I've ever encountered. While I don't overdraft often, the few times that I have I have had to face $32/day overdraft fees! I am looking to bank elsewhere soon, and advise you to do the same.

Wells Fargo hasI must say that I only got this because of the discount (.25% APR discount) but the service is superb compare to other banks, you rarely have to make a claim in the Wells Fargo 24 hour phone service because you can make everything from their website but when you need more personal attention (I have called only 2 times) they are very responsive and polite. I am very happy with their service because at first I wasn’t very sure with having two different accounts from two different banks, but this one is so easy to manage that there is no problem whatsoever.

I currently use Wells Fargo college checking. It has very good money management tools and services available online and the telephone support is excellent as well. It comes with free overdraft protection and other benefits. A great deal with a great bank, you can't ask for much more.

I had Wells Fargo College Checking about 3 years ago, and I vow never to go back. It was not terrible, but not better than Wamu. They charge you trivial amounts for the most random of things, including calling a teller.

I had nothing but a good experience with this account. It really made student loan payments convenient, although now I've graduated to a non-college checking account.....

I got the same discount too as Tim. I have found their checking services to be rather the same as everywhere else. But I love their online banking system, college checking online is very easy! I recommend doing this if you are going to college and need a loan.
