Statement Savings
from Zions Bank
The Zions Bank Statement Savings Account has a minimum opening deposit of $50, and a minimum balance of $200 is required to avoid monthly service fees (both of which are waived if you're under 22 years old). As of late May 2008, the interest rate on this account was 0.25% for balances under $5,000 and 0.50% for balances of $5,000 or more. The account also allows you to make unlimited deposits and withdrawals at Reddi-Access ATMs for free, though there are limits on teller transactions.

The difference between this account and the gold savings account is that they don't require you to have a gold checking account or any other accounts open. If Zion's isn't your main bank this could be a good fit. Otherwise, definitely open the gold checking and go with the gold savings, because you get a much better rate for limited effort, besides it's a good idea to have both accounts anyways.
