Don't forget repairs and maintenance, people! It's not a regularly occurring expense like insurance or installments, but it probably comes out to around $100/mo, and that's if your car is in good shape. Also, if you give up your car for a bike, you can eliminate that $100/mo gym membership and save on health care later on. And don't get me started on parking garages (or my alternative, parking tickets). That could be another stacker right there. Who wants a 2005 Civic?
