Church stuff throughout the year. Clothes when the closet gets unruly or the end if I need more deductions. Then after reflecting on the year I usually pick which non-profits I want to give to at the end of the year during the holiday season. Some clients time their donations/deductions every other year so they can take advantage of itemizing when their him is paid off.

Hello Friends,
This year as a fitness goal, I have decided to run the NYC Marathon on November 1st. As part of this goal, I have also committed to raise a minimum of $3,250 for Team Continuum, a charity that cares for the immediate needs of Cancer Patients. I chose this cause to run for all the people in my life that have been and are affected by cancer. In my specific situation I am running for my father Manuel Vargas, who is a cancer survivor.
Please sponsor me for as much as you can for this worthy cause. All donations are tax deductible. To learn more about Team Continuum and make a donation online, go to www.teamcontinuum.net. If you don't feel comfortable making a contribution online, please send me a message and I will e-mail you a donation form.
Team Continuum is a NOT a research based organization. We are about helping people that are living with cancer today. For us, it's about the care and not the cure. We fully support research and are grateful for it, but our focus is to help today's cancer patients and their families. It's a fact that if you have cancer today it is unlikely that research being done today will help you.
This will be my second time running the NYC Marathon. I have been training since May 2008 and my goal is to finish in under 3:30 hours. Wish me luck!
I appreciate your support! Please go now to www.teamcontinuum.net to donate before you forget! =) When you make a donation, I'll keep you updated on how my training goes and let you know my race results.

Sometimes I do shift donations from the following year into this year if it makes more sense in tax planning terms.

Good question. Might also include those of us who've donated stuff to clean out the closet. There's gold in them their mountains. ;)
