I'd pay nothing to watch a show without interruptions on TV because TV is no longer the sole outlet for programming. Most TV shows can be accessed on DVD via Netflix or Blockbuster (no commercials and the whole season is available) or over the Internet (Youtube or Hulu) where the ads are there but are less intrusive. Then, too, the quality of TV is such that I still resent paying the monthly bill for cable as a whole.

Why watch shows online? When I'm at my computer I'm working. TV shows are for my flat panel.

What a great question and a new way to look at the problem! I never thought of this before. TV networks need to look at new revenue streams in order to find their way back to profitablity.
