Like Minhthe, my $3000 was for car repairs.

I hit the same limit mentioned by Barclay when I tried to use my cash-back card for a car. The dealer did not want to pay the credit card fee. They also made a big play to push me into the financing that they offer - and that they profit from.

We had a credit card that we used solely for wedding expenses. The most expensive was payment for our honeymoon. It was expensive, it was worth it plus we used a rewards card for it.

The single and largest transaction ever on my credit card was $2000 for car repairs!

Wells Fargo let me dump $13,000 on their card interest free for a year when I bought new windows from Pella for Castle Sidewalker in 2007. I'm not sure if this deal still exists, if it does I'm not sure how much longer Wells Fargo will exist...!

I upgraded my hot tub, after the down payment , I charged $4,800 , no interest if paid off in 90days. I managed to get the card paid off about 2 weeks before 28% interest rate applied .

Using credit cards that have rewards (like airline miles, or cash rebates, etc.) are great for those "big" transactions, as long as you are ALWAYS able to pay the full amount when you get the statement, otherwise the interest charged will just kill any benefit in one swoop. I mange to get thousands of miles and hundreds of dollars in cash rebates every year, helping me with vacations, dinning out etc. But again: always pay the full balance when the statement comes, otherwise stay away from credit cards. Period!

How are people charging in the double-digit-thousands? Who lets you put a charge like that on a credit card? The most the car dealership would let me put on my card was $5K.
