Going out for a night on the town with your special someone is always a great way to wrap up a hectic week, but in these tough economic times, dating can seem downright daunting. If you're looking to impress for less, you're in luck because we've uncovered six frugal (and fun!) ways to woo your lover, no debt required.
Cheap Eats: The Budget Friendly Dinner Date
Going out to dinner is the granddaddy of expensive dates, but that doesn't mean you're destined to flirt over Big Macs (though that could be fun every once in a while, too). Invite your date over to your place and log onto foodnetwork.com. Pick out appetizer, dinner and dessert recipes, and head to the local market to grab ingredients and a couple of bottles of good, but inexpensive wine. Once you have everything you need, head back to your place, pour a couple of glasses of vino, light a few candles, turn on the dinner music and voila: a romantic dinner for two!
What You'll Need:
- A clean apartment: Scrub your kitchen, do the dishes, make the bed and hide the laundry.
- Ingredients for the meal: Make sure to cut recipes down for two.
- Nice plates, silverware and glasses: Shop around for fantastic and inexpensive dinnerware items.
- Access to a computer.
- Wine: Trader Joe's offers fantastic French, Spanish and Italian wines for a lot less (Hint: French table wines are usually pretty tasty and under $15).
- Candles: Set a romantic mood by dimming the lights and placing a few candles around.
- Great music: Café Del Mar, Sinatra, Otis Redding, Maroon 5, Coldplay, whatever suits your fancy. Pop in your favorite artists name on Pandora.com and they'll create a playlist for you for free. Or use Grooveshark.com to create your own free playlist.

Great article on a simple yet memorable evening for two. Unfortunately, I get the impression that in this Internet age, more young people go out in packs, "hook up" (ugh!) and have lost or never cultivated the art and pleasure of dating.
