Banks often automatically sign us up for overdraft protection and we're left to wonder if it's a good thing or not. The deal with overdraft protection is that it can save you the embarrassment of having your debit card denied at the cash register but it will cost you.

If you have credit problems or run up overdrafts most banks will not let you open a regular checking account. But you can still count on opening a second chance account.
