Think of savings accounts as that piggy bank you received as a kid. Except savings accounts have interest rates that reward you for stashing your cash and greatly reduce the threat of your sibling stealing your dough. Online savings accounts often have higher interest rates, but standard savings accounts when linked with your checking account can have logistic advantages, too. Most require a minimum deposit to get started.
