I work for FiLife.com, which is a good thing, because I need all the helpful financial advice I can get! I have done a few things right - I own a house (the part that the bank doesn't own) and have some money socked away in an IRA, but I am somewhat clueless about a lot of financial matters. I'm here to learn the same as everybody else!

On Oct 10, 2008 Barclay reviewed Home Insurance from The Travelers
I had Traveler's home insurance when I lived in a rental apartment, so I stayed with them when I bought my house. Their customer service is fantastic (mostly I know this because of claims I had to make for my car). Recently I added a piece of jewelry to the policy, and they were very helpful and efficient in handling the request.

On Oct 10, 2008 Barclay reviewed Investment Brokerage from E*Trade
I'm not especially savvy about the market, so I don't know what terms like "stop" and "limit" mean, and it could be easier for novices to find helpful information in the context of placing an order, etc. But for the basic operations of buying and selling stocks, this account is serviceable and reasonably inexpensive.

On Oct 10, 2008 Barclay reviewed Money Market Savings from Chase
It doesn't really give you much. I have had this account with Chase because they acquired Chemical, who had acquired Manufacturer's Hanover, where my account originated, and I was too lazy to make a change. Recently I opened new accounts at Wachovia and all their services are much better than Chase's.
