On Nov 6, 2008 Minhthe reviewed Bank of America

The only reason I do business with Bank of America is that they have ATMs everywhere. Aside from this advantage, I find the rest of their business subpar.

I originally opened my account with them on the West Coast. When I moved to the East Coast, they told me I opened my account in the three states where their systems aren't connected. Therefore, they cant provide the full service capability in any of their branches on the East Coast. Good thing I do most of my management online. At least their ATM machines work seamlessly for someone that came from one of their 'forbidden' states.

The one thing that annoys me most is their Fees. I get a fee slapped on me if I walk even slightly out of bounds. I then have to call and inquire about a new charge and negotiate with them to take it off. They usually do but c'mon!

If you want the convenience of ATMs everywhere and you self-manage your money online - BAC isnt so bad. But dont think twice about calling them. Their queue is long and they will slap you with a fee just for calling in.

On Aug 13, 2008 Minhthe reviewed Tax Preparation from H&R Block

With tax preparation software easier to use than ever, in-person H&R Block services offers a gut check that you have been doing your taxes correctly all along. It isnt a service I see myself using every year.

One of the benefits, is that H&R Block is everywhere in NYC/NJ area. The convenient store locations and hours make it easy to walk-in and file a return. However, my experience with H&R is that they simply input the numbers I give them and do not provide the tax consulting service I imagined. I was a little disappointed by this.

Overall, my taxes are easy enough to do and I would rather stick with tax preparation software.

On Aug 12, 2008 Minhthe reviewed Car Insurance from USAA

When I was involved in a car accident, the other party had USAA insurance. My friends prepared me for how difficult other insurance companies can be. Fortunately, that was not the case.

Within a few days, USAA worked out a quote for my car. And within two weeks, I had a check at hand. More impressive was the fact my USAA agent responded quickly to all my inquiries.

I would never wish something like this to happen to anyone but the stress of it was more manageable dealing with a competent company on the other end.
