Eleanor Blayney, CFP® is the Consumer Advocate for the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, the organization that awards the CFP® marks and establishes ethical and practice standards for CFP® professionals.
She reaches out to consumers and the media to educate them on the value of the CFP® marks and the power of the financial planning process to improve and enrich consumer lives. She is also the President of Directions LLC, a financial planning service for mid-life professional women. Her current mission is to change the conversation around personal finance for women, believing that their money needs and attitudes require a new, woman-friendly approach.

Eleanor has been a financial planner for over two decades. As a partner and principal of a wealth management firm in the Washington DC metro area, she helped to build a practice serving hundreds of clients nationwide, and managing over $ 1 billion in portfolio assets. She was also a pioneer in helping to build the financial planning profession, contributing to the development of practice standards for CFP® practitioners in both this country and abroad. A frequent speaker and writer on financial issues, Eleanor is currently writing a book on financial planning for women, expected to be available early in 2010.
